Upper Dolpo Trekking

General Information

Isolated until 1989, the Dolpo area is hard to match for its surreal beauty and stunning charm. Situated at the rain-shadowed side of the Himalaya, the rugged scenery shows dramatic views, compared to similar altitude elsewhere in the country. The region offers opportunities to visit ancient villages, high passes, beautiful Lakes, isolated Buddhist monasteries and also to experience the vast array of wildlife inhabiting the region, including Blue sheep, Mountain Goat, Jackal, Wolf and the legendary Snow Leopard.

Trip Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu, transfer to hotel / tour briefing.
Day 02: Make office document and arrange special permit. (B)
Day 03: Fly, Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, overnight hotel (B.L.D)
Day 04: Early morning, fly to Dolpo (Juphal) then trek to Hanke (2660m) tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 05: Hanke to Samduwa tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 06: Samduwa to Phoksundo Lake (3600m) tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 07: Rest at Phoksundo Lake tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 08: Phoksundo Lake to cross Baga La (5090m) and camp next side tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 09: Baga La to Numla base camp (5190m) tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 10: Numla base camp to Chutung Dang (3967m) tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 11: Chutung Dang to Chibu Kharka (3915m) tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 12: Chibu Kharka to Saldang (4100m) tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 13: Saldang to Yang Tsser village (4300m) tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 14: Yang Tsser village to Karang (4100m) tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 15: Karang to Ramanan (4600m) tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 16: Ramanan to Samling Gompa (3800m) tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 17: Samling Gompa to Shey Gompa (4500m) tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 18: Rest day at Shey Gompa, visit Chakang Gompa tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 19: Shey Gompa to Yak Kharka (4500m) tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 20: Yak Kharka to Ringmu (3600m) tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 21: Ringmu to Rachi tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 22: Rachi to Roha village tent camp (B.L.D)
Day 23: Roha village to Juphal lodge (B.L.D)
Day 24: Fly, Juphal to Nepalgunj (B.L.D)
Day 25: Nepalgunj to Kathmandu by drive. (B.L)
Day 26: Final Departure (B)
